The Bolaven Plateau Coffee Producers Cooperative (CPC) was established in 2007 in southern Laos with support from the French Agency for Development to improve market access for small-scale coffee producers. Initially partnering with Swiss-based CAFEMA and French company Malongo, CPC is now expanding into North American markets through Cooperative Coffees. The organization maintains high-quality standards through well-equipped processing units and a meticulous tracking system, with ambitious production goals for 2015-2016. Beyond coffee production, CPC invests its Fair Trade Premium in community development, including building a clinic scheduled for completion in 2016, and is developing tourism initiatives that allow visitors to experience Laotian coffee culture firsthand while connecting with local farmers.
